Arizona law prohibits driving with an active metabolite of marijuana in your system.
Active Metabolite in Marijuana
Marijuana’s active and impairing ingredient is THC. So, it is illegal to drive in Arizona with THC in your system. Similarly, when your body metabolizes THC, it turns into 11-Hydroxy-THC. Hydroxy- THC is also impairing. So, it is still illegal to drive with Hydroxy-THC in your body. Lastly, the body then further metabolizes Hydroxyl-THC into 11-nor-9-Carboxy-THC. Carboxy-THC is NOT an impairing metabolite. So, you may drive with only Carboxy-THC in your system.
Does this Effect My DUI Case?
Your case should be dismissed if your blood results demonstrate only the inactive metabolites. Contact Catalyst Legal Group for more information about your Marijuana DUI.
